LOGOS at FPC: Our midweek multigenerational ministry for children grades K-8 and members of all ages! LOGOS (Greek for "word") is a great way of exploring your relationship with God and others. This is the heart and soul of the ministry. LOGOS provides us with a system of nurture that helps us see, beyond any doubt, the grace of Jesus Christ, through the building of intergenerational relationships in the family of God. We treat each other as children of God and act in a manner consistent with living a Life of Faith in Jesus Christ!
The four parts of the LOGOS weekly ministry model are:
Worship Skills - Worship Skills time in the LOGOS Program nurtures, encourages, prepares and equips young people to meet and praise their God in the service of worship. All persons, young and old, need to experience the joy of offering praise and thanksgiving to our God. Activities may include: dramatic reading, choral offering, chimes/bells, and interpretive movement.
Bible Study - Bible study nurtures youth and children into intelligent, obedient, and biblically-informed discipleship. In grade level groups, each LOGOS class uses a curriculum that is designed to meet their unique needs and learning capabilities. Faith for Life2 is a powerful Bible study resource for a weekly LOGOS ministry
Recreation Play – Recreation Play allows LOGOS young people to experience great fun at the expense of no one else. They participate in games and active play, do crafts, or experience the hobby or special interest of a member of the congregation. When we reveal ourselves in play, we strengthen friendships, and when conflicts occur, we practice our Child of God theology.
Family Time - Family Time provides a joyous, intergenerational celebration of personhood over a shared meal as LOGOS young people experience being part of the family of God. Young people are assigned to tables along with one or two adults who act as "table parents." The group around the table becomes a family as they share meals together throughout the year. Food is served family style. Conversation is purposeful. Life is celebrated!

Denison Connection: We are ever grateful for the gifts that our Denison Students bring us each week at LOGOS! Joining us this year are two new DU interns, Christina Bazac and Lauren Waters. We are also very excited to have Lindsey Korbel return for her fourth year of Little LOGOS, and Maggie Lewis (DU Intern 09-10) to come back as a volunteer!
We need You! Parents & Volunteers are critical to the FPC LOGOS Ministry. Our children are proud of the part that the parent or grandparent takes, love to see their LOGOS adult friends on Saturdays and Sundays, and all adult volunteers become part of the LOGOS Community.
The LOGOS Ministry is a great way to become involved in the life of our church and make a difference in the lives of our young people. LOGOS is an extension of FPC’s Youth and Children's ministry. Volunteers of all generations from the church are needed as table parents, cooks, class shepherds, worship skills, recreation and Bible study leaders.
Volunteer positions have time commitments ranging from occasional to once-a-week. There are also other ways to be involved, and ways to work around your work schedule. Care is available for children of volunteers ages birth to five in our Little LOGOS program. If you love God, love children, have a gift to share, and want to have fun, we would love to have you join this important ministry. Contact the church office or Janice LoRaso to find out how anyone can be involved to help with this ministry. Download more information about volunteer opportunities here:
Curriculum: Plans are underway to create small class grouping for bible skills where we continue to use Faith for Life Curriculum 2 LOGOS Curriculum. Philip Everingham is creating our Worship Skills curriculum this year and children will learn how to play the chimes in addition to learning about the sacraments from Thom and Karen.
Little LOGOS: Children of LOGOS volunteers that are preschool age and younger participate in a LOGOS program all their own while parents fulfill their volunteer commitment. Little LOGOS features a dedicated team of volunteers that plan age appropriate activities following the LOGOS 4 parts philosophy. Little LOGOS shares a family style dinner just their size each week. Little LOGOS fees for 10-11 are $30 per child to cover the cost of meals. Download the Little LOGOS Enrollment Form with this link:
